it was the music express

1 Oct

I remember being so punchy on my first date in eighth grade that I couldn’t stop laughing at a popcorn graphic on the in the theater because “It looks like fingers! Oh my gosh, it looks like fingers!” And then we watched Shrek which was 87% funnier that time than it would have been if I watched it alone now with a bloody bottom lip because I pick at things when there are inconsistencies, when they’re not as soft and smooth as they should be, like my first relationship which began a few days before our first date and ended almost a month later when the spark that made everything funny had fizzled under the weight of his body violently shoved against mine from the inertia of the Music Express at the farm fair.
